Chairman, Senate Committee on Privatization and former Governor of Abia State, Dr. Orji Kalu has congratulated the Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO), Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala on her unanimous appointment for a second term in office.
Extolling the outstanding and unbeatable qualities of the Economist, Kalu applauded the giant accomplishments of Okonjo-Iweala describing her a role model to the womenfolk across the globe.
The former Governor stressed that the DG- WTO has done Africa proud in her endaevours, adding that the world will continue to explore the intellectual capacity of Okonjo-Iweala.
In a statement on Friday, Kalu commended the member countries of the WTO for renewing the appointment of the DG-WTO ahead of the completion of her first tenure.
He said, “I felicitate with the Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO), Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala on her appointment for a second term in office.
“The DG- WTO is an accomplished professional who has consistently made invaluable contributions to the growth and development of Nigeria, Africa and the world in various high level positions.
“As the first African and first female to lead the WTO, Okonjo-Iweala has written her name in gold in the history of the WTO.
“Her tenure has recorded tremendous success in advancing multilateral trade for global development.
“The exemplary qualities of the DG-WTO are worth emulating by leaders across the globe”.
Kalu wished the re-elected DG- WTO continued success in her noble role.
