Onyeka Nwelue, a Nigerian scholar, filmmaker, has penned emotional message following his battle with one kidney.

Nwelue, in a post on X formerly Twitter revealed that he has been living on one Kidney for a long time, adding that the only kidney has now been infested.
The movie director who has published over 35 books, like;T he Strangers of Braamfontein, Lemon Grass, A Japanese Professor In Accra, etc., said he decided to make public his health status following his inability to respond to people’s messages whom may have think he is ignoring them.
“I have been living on one kidney for a long time and now, the only kidney remaining is infested.”
“I have been in the hospital for over 5 days now and only family and close friends know. However, there are people who think I am avoiding them. Thought they should know.” Nwelue posted on X with videos proving he is in the hospital taking medication.
The movie director who recently shared an artwork of a movie he and his team has been working said he supports “Assisted Dying”, according to him, only Doctors can keep you alive if they want to or can help you die.
“This is one of the reasons I support Assisted Dying. You alone know your pain and how much you are spending. The doctors and nurses can help you die.”
Onyeka Nwelue, 37, born on 31st January, 1988, is a Nigerian scholar, filmmaker, publisher and jazz musician signed to Amsterdam-based record label, Walboomers Music. He has published over 35 books, including The Strangers of Braamfontein, described by Nobel Laureate, Wole Soyinka, as “raunchy”.
