Police Declared Suspect Wanted In Connection With IPOB Activities

The Nigeria Police, Isuochi Division, has declared Mr. Nwafor Michael wanted in connection with IPOB activities.

The suspect

Nwafor Michael was born on May 28, 1991, in Awgu Local Government Area of Enugu State, Nigeria. He resides in Lopkanta, Abia State, Nigeria, where he operates an Okada business. His Okada was set ablaze by the Nigeria Police.

Nwafor Michael is an active member of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), a group seeking secession from Nigeria. The group was proscribed by President Muhammadu Buhari on September 20, 2017.

Nwafor Michael was arrested on September 10, 2016, by Nkwo Agu Police Station, Isuochi Division, for participating in IPOB protests aimed at disintegrating Nigeria. He was released on March 22, 2017, following his parents’ intervention. His father signed a surety stating that Nwafor Michael would renounce IPOB and refrain from further involvement.

However, Nwafor Michael breached the surety’s terms and resumed IPOB activities. During a police raid on his Lopkanta residence on October 5, 2017 Nwafor Michael evaded arrest and his Okada was set ablaze including his house by the police special force The police arrested Mr. Amobi, the house owner, who was found to be an IPOB coordinator. Various IPOB materials, including T-shirts, Biafra flags, caps, and books containing IPOB records, were seized from Amobi.

Nwafor Michael remains at large, and efforts are underway to apprehend him. His father was arrested on june18, 2018, as a guarantor and will remain in custody until Nwafor Michael is arrested.

According to a press release from Nkwo Agu Police Station, Isuochi Division, the police are appealing to the general public for anyone with useful information that can lead to his re-arrest to contact the Nkwo Agu Police, Isuochi Division, or the nearest police station.
