Abia Labour Party Chieftain, Ndubueze accuses Gov Alex Otti of Intimidation, Imposition of candidates

The Abia State secretary of the Labour party local government election committee, Prince G.O. Ndubueze, has accused Governor Alex Otti of intimidation.

This is even as he accused the governor of trying to impose candidates against the party’s will in the forthcoming local government election in the State.

Ndubueze made the accusations on Saturday after masked men suspected to be policemen disrupted a meeting of the Labour Party in Aba.

According to Vanguard, the masked men numbering over 20, stormed the venue of the meeting and ordered members to stay quiet, five of the masked men walked up to the high table and told Prince Ndubueze, that he was under arrest.

However, members present at the meeting refused Ndubueze being taken away because the masked men failed to present a warrant of arrest, they marched with Chieftain to the Aba Area police command.

Speaking to Vanguard, Ndubueze said he would not bow to intimidation from Governor Alex Otti who he accused of seeking to impose chairmanship and councillorship candidates in the November 2 local government election.

“I didn’t get any warrant of arrest from anywhere. I don’t even know whether they are policemen, but as law abiding citizen, I’m going with the police. But I will never bow to intimidation from Gov. Alex Otti. We won’t allow him to impose candidates in this local government election.

 

“This is a governor who came to power through a legitimate election, but wants to impose candidates. The Labour Party in Abia state won’t tolerate imposition.”
