U.S. Commission In Nigeria reacts to Reports of USAID funding Boko Haram
The United States Commission in Nigeria has reacted to the reports of her agency, USAID of funding Boko Haram terrorists group.

Abacity.ng recalled a U.S Congressman, Representative Scott Perry, a Republican from Pennsylvania, had in a viral video quoted the newly inaugurated Department of Government Efficiency, DOGE, an agency headed by Elon Musk, of uncovering a suspicious transaction by the USAID.
The congressman claimed that USAID has been funding terrorists groups across the world, including Boko Haram, a terror group that had caused so much havoc in Nigeria.
Perry made this known on February 13, 2025, during a House hearing on USAID. The hearing, organised by the House Foreign Affairs Committee, was meant to review the Trump administration’s funding freeze on USAID. While condemning USAID, Perry exposed how billions in taxpayer money continue to reach terrorist organisations. He accused USAID of straying from its mission and financing groups threatening global security instead.
Reacting, the commission in an X post on Tuesday, said there will be a comprehensive monitoring to ensure that funds released by the U.S government to its agencies will reach the intended recipients.
“Comprehensive monitoring and evaluation systems are in place to help verify that U.S. assistance reaches intended recipients.” The tweet read.
The commission added that, “The United States condemns the violence and blatant disregard for human life perpetrated by Boko Haram and other terrorist groups in Nigeria and the region.”
The commission went further to recalled that U.S Secretary of State on November 2014 declared Boko Haram a foreign terrorist organization, an efforts to block the group’s assets and fundraising.
“The Secretary of State designated Boko Haram a Foreign Terrorist Organization on November 14, 2013 to block the organization’s assets and fundraising efforts, prosecute individual members, and restrict their travel to the United States. The United States continues to work with Nigeria and regional partners to counter terrorism.”
