Google has announced the opening of Ananta, one of its largest global offices, located in Mahadevapura on the outskirts of Bengaluru. The new 1.6-million-square-foot facility marks a significant milestone in the company’s expansion in India.
Built by Bagmane Tech Park over six years and customized for Google in 11 months, Ananta can accommodate over 5,000 employees. Google’s total workforce in India now stands at approximately 10,000, making it one of the company’s largest employee bases outside the United States.
Speaking about Google’s commitment to India, Anand Rangarajan, Vice President of Product at Google DeepMind, emphasized the country’s role in global technology advancements.
“Technology is evolving rapidly, and its adoption is accelerating. Google is driving these changes through research, development, partnerships, and deployment. Nowhere is this transformation more evident than in India,” he said.
He further noted that the new facility would enable Google to develop world-class products, deepen customer partnerships, and address complex challenges for users, businesses, and startups in India and beyond. Teams from various Google divisions—including Android, Search, Play, Pay, Cloud, Maps, and Google DeepMind—may operate from Ananta.
Preeti Lobana, Google’s Country Manager and VP for India, highlighted India’s growing influence in the global tech ecosystem. She pointed to the country’s thriving startup ecosystem, digital public infrastructure, and diverse creator economy as key indicators of its significance.
Google, which has completed two decades in India, has played a major role in the country’s digital transformation. Its AI-powered initiatives include flood forecasting, early tuberculosis detection, and financial inclusion through Google Pay.
Ananta’s launch reinforces Google’s long-term vision for India, aligning with its strategy to build with and for India and the world. As the company continues to invest in AI, cloud computing, and digital infrastructure, its latest expansion signals India’s growing prominence in the global technology landscape.
