Senator Orji Uzor Kalu Congratulates Abia Warriors for Securing Continental Spot

Former Governor of Abia State and Senator representing Abia North Senatorial District, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, has congratulated Abia Warriors Football Club for securing a continental ticket following their outstanding performance in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

In a statement issued on Monday, Senator Kalu, who is widely regarded as the African Pillar of Sports, praised the resilience, discipline, and tactical brilliance displayed by the team throughout the ongoing season in the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL).

“Abia Warriors have made Abia State and indeed Nigeria proud. Their qualification for continental football is a clear testament to their hard work, consistency, and dedication on and off the pitch. This achievement reflects the potential of our local clubs when properly supported,” he said.

The former governor, a well-known sports enthusiast who invested in football development during his time in office, urged the team to intensify preparations ahead of their continental campaign.

“As you prepare to represent Nigeria on the continental stage, I encourage you to maintain your discipline, remain focused, and carry the spirit of excellence with you. The eyes of Abians, Nigerians and Africa at large will be on you, and I am confident that you will make us proud,” he added.

Senator Kalu also called on the Abia State Government and corporate organizations to provide maximum support to the club, stressing that sports, particularly football, remains a powerful tool for youth engagement, peace, and development.
