The Nigerian Senate has cleared the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio of sexual harassment allegation with vote of confidence.

Akpabio is currently facing a sexual harassment allegation by the Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, a female lawmaker representing Kogi Central.
The Senate ethics committee had suspended Senator Natasha for gross misconduct and not following the Senate rules while filing her petition against Akpabio, a move which has received mixed reactions from Nigerians.
Speaking on the floor of the Senate on Thursday, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, the Senate Leader said the Senate have heard it loud and clear the demands and opinions of Nigerians and different Civil Society Organizations following the sexual harassment allegation against Akpabio, he, however, said the Senate have decided to not be distracted and let the court do their jobs since the matter is in court.
Senator Bamidele cautioned the public to be objective in their analysis of the situation.
Closing his remarks, the Senate leader said the house has passed a vote of confidence on the Senate President Godswill Akpabio, adding that it’s necessary for the Senate to not get distracted from their main purpose.
