We invite applications for a fully funded PhD position in Genomics & Bioinformatics at the University of Arkansas under the supervision of Dr. Aranyak Goswami.
The research focuses on genomic and transcriptomic data analysis to study host–microbiome interactions. This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in bioinformatics workflows, sequencing data analysis, and biological interpretation in a collaborative environment.
Position Summary
The selected candidate will work on genomics and bioinformatics, emphasizing bulk RNA sequencing and transcriptomic data interpretation.
This includes processing high-throughput datasets and applying computational methods for biological insights.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze genomic and transcriptomic data, particularly bulk RNA-seq.
- Develop bioinformatics workflows.
- Assist in data interpretation and visualization.
- Contribute to publications and conference presentations.
Required Qualifications
A Master’s degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Genetics, Molecular Biology, or a related field.
A U.S. Master’s degree with a minimum GPA of 3.5.
Valid GRE and/or SAT scores.
Visa eligibility to work in the U.S.
Experience with Python or R.
Solid understanding of molecular biology, genomics, and transcriptomics.
Exposure to high-throughput sequencing, especially bulk RNA-seq.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with GWAS, population genetics, and Linux-based HPC.
Willingness to learn new bioinformatics tools.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
